IMPORTANT: Currently, Theme Validator is only available for the WooCommerce plugin. PrestaShop is not supported.
In order to properly track eCommerce events, the eCommerce plugin needs to hook into important actions and triggers of the eCommerce platform such as WooCommerce. Those hooks allow the plugin to capture products being shown to the end-user with all the details – such as price, variants, etc.
Some of the hooks are implemented at the theme level and it means that certain custom themes may not trigger all actions properly. Theme Validator is a feature of the Tag Concierge Platform that helps to quickly and remotely validate if all required actions and filters are correctly implemented in the theme.
Currently, this is a semi-manual process and requires our involvement but it allows us to check the theme without having access to the theme code.
If you have any concerns about not all events being correctly tracked follow the steps below, otherwise you are all good.
1. Enable Theme Validator in the settings
Go to the WP-Admin and then
Settings > Google Tag Manager and then check the
Enable Theme Validator? checkbox.
2. Trigger Theme Validator
Once the Theme Validator is enabled, navigate to the
Tools tab and click
Request Theme Validation button.
Then click the link below to see the results. The processing time will depend on the current queue.
What the Theme Validator exactly does?
When enabled it allows to open your shop page with the
uuid_hash, this will add additional HTML comments (not visible on the page, but only in the page HTML source) that contains information about the theme, triggered hooks, filters and some of the properties.
